Tassles? Really? Golly, I didn't know they still made shoes with tassles - your descriptions crack me up. The Macbook Air commercials are really effective, I want one SOOOOO bad, I can taste it. I want to slide it in and out of an interoffice envelope, they make it look so fun. Your computer geek people profiles are a hoot - you should write a short story...

Retro Geek. Plaid shirt festooned with food stains, pants 3/4" too short. 1989 nerd glasses. 40-60 pounds overweight, flatulent, knowledgeable. Crumpled photo of Wozniak's garage in their lunch pail with stuff on it that you don't want to touch.

Lee, you're right for most people and probably the market at large. But personally I found that the only thing I used Facebook for was to read my friends' status updates. Maybe I'm just lazy, actually I know I'm lazy, but Twitter fits my social media needs to a T.

Monty, I'm following you both on your blog and in Twitter, but I gotta say I disagree with your analysis here. Don't get me wrong - I love Twitter. But these are two completely different platforms. Twitter does one thing really well; Facebook just has a LOT more functionality.

And given a choice between .01% of Facebook's stock and a similar slice of Twitter's, I'll take for former.

Not that I get to pick either one.

Nice looking site, Monty. I've subscribed and look forward to reading your thoughts. It's an exciting time to be exploring these frontiers.

I like the idea of these. I haven't followed any of these micro startups - have any of the y-combinator companies been bought or gotten decent venture funding?
